Radan Design to Manufacture (DTM) Transfer is a handy utility that simplifies the transfer of both 2D & 3D data from third party CAD packages to Radan manufacturing systems.
Operating on the CAD workstation, DTM Transfer extracts both 2D & 3D data from any open model and seamlessly transfers it into Radan – either directly, or via a file. Files saved from DTM Transfer can be emailed or copied as normal, making transfer to other workstations or organisations as simple as possible.
DTM Transfer is available to Radan users and other organisations using compatible CAD packages, who need to transfer data to Radan manufacturing systems. DTM extracts both 2D and 3D data from the CAD system. The 2D data may be read by all Radan systems and the 3D data by systems incorporating Radan 3D.
DTM is able to transfer from the following CAD packages to Radan:
- Autodesk Inventor (4 & later, but with some restrictions in Inventor 4)
- Solidworks (2001 & later)
- Mechanical Desktop (4 & later)
- AutoCAD (R2000 & later)
- TopSolid (6.5)
- Solid Edge
DTM Transfer could not be simpler to use. It automatically offers the user a choice of currently open models for transfer. If Radan 08 is running on the same workstation, the 2D & 3D data is transferred directly to the manufacturing application. Alternatively, the model can be saved to a file for transmission by e-mail, network or disc.
To make data transfer as seamless as possible, DTM extracts more than just geometry from CAD models*. For example, where 2D data is extracted into the Radan 08 Part Editor, sheet metal and material properties are made available too. In some cases*, additional CAD data is extracted by DTM to provide useful references within Radan 08 to simplify further processing.
