Radan - Latest Release

Improved and Enhanced Functionality
Radan 2009 R2

Containing impressive new functionality and additional features, Radan 2009 R2 launches, confirming its place as the best sheet metal CAD/CAM solution available.

The 2009 R2 release sees developments to critical functionality including major enhancements in the nesting capabilities. Powerful new functionality called the Nesting Project Environment enables the user to have additional controls and visual feedback of this key manufacturing process. For both manual and automatic nesting the user will achieve maximum material utilisation and, with the additional levels of control available in R2, Radan users can identify the parts that have been nested and manufactured to the required level, where extra parts will be created, where too many parts will be created; where there are unexpected parts (not due to be nested); or, where the required part levels have not been reached.

Sheet metal CAD/CAM nestingPlanit Chief Technology Officer, Russell Franks, comments: “The new Nesting Project Environment allows Radan users to consider far wider business factors, going beyond the individual manufacturing task in hand. The software enables the maximisation of sheet utilisation by fitting frequently produced parts within other nests once the CAM program has reached the required batch quantity, effectively making stock parts from what previously would have been scrapped raw material.”

Enhancements to RadbendCNC also feature strongly in this latest release. Continuing our offline programming/digital manufacturing philosophy, forming will now be taken into account during the press brake simulation and collision checking process. By adding this extra functionality our customers will be able to benefit from even greater cost and time savings, enabling them to maximise productivity and reduce waste.

Another significant development in Radan R2 2009 is the enhancement of feature recognition. One of Radan’s strengths has always been its ability to work with imported 3D models, providing the user with an easy method of developing models for manufacture. The enhancements to feature recognition give added interoperability, making the development and manufacture from imported 3D models even easier and far more efficient. Radan will now recognise the majority of features and allow the user to modify the bend radii according to the manufacturing constraints.

In addition to all these enhancements Radan 2009 R2 has also been fully certified for Autodesk Inventor 2010, under the Autodesk Inventor Certified Applications Program. This includes a number of enhancements specifically for sheet metal, such as unfold/refold workflows, lofted flanges and rip features as well as contoured rolls, which enables users to define complex sheet metal parts that include roll-formed sections.

The efficiency gains and material cost saving functionality achievable with this latest release of Radan, clearly shows our acute awareness of the current economic climate and its commitment to providing its customers with world class solutions that deliver value and a significant return on investment.
